Dugong Alay Mo, Sagip sa Buhay Ko
Taguig City celebrated Councilors’ Week 2025 with a bloodletting activity themed “Dugong Alay Mo, Sagip sa Buhay Ko” on September 2 at the Lakeshore Activity Center in Barangay Lower Bicutan.
The Sangguniang Panglungsod (SP), together with the City Health Office and Taguig-Pateros District Hospital (TPDH), led the event. A total of 117 blood bags—more than 56 liters—came from 192 donors that included city employees, SP staff, TPDH personnel, and volunteer citizens.
The activity helps maintain the city’s blood supply for patients in need. Mayor Lani Cayetano joined the event and praised the councilors’ initiative, saying it strengthens the city’s health programs:
She also recognized the donors’ selfless contribution:
“To all the blood donors present here today, may God return the blessings one hundred folds.
For SP staff Joey Aldrin Palencia, joining the activity has become a personal advocacy:

The Sports Fest featured a full lineup of activities. Softball and volleyball matches drew loud cheers as teams battled it out on the courts and field. Badminton games highlighted agility and endurance, while chess and darts challenged participants’ concentration and precision. Beyond competition, the atmosphere buzzed with laughter, teamwork, and a sense of shared purpose. Mayor Lani Cayetano joined the activity and reminded the participants that health and wellness are just as important as fulfilling their duties in public service:
The activity helps maintain the city’s blood supply for patients in need. Mayor Lani Cayetano joined the event and praised the councilors’ initiative, saying it strengthens the city’s health programs:
Team District 1 secured victory with 14 runs during the softball match, while Team District 2 triumphed during the volleyball meet. The tandem of Hamza Pautin and Councilor Gen Pautin claimed the badminton championship match. Meanwhile in the individual events, SP staff Niño Gonzales and Joveno Mortel Jr. emerged as champions in darts and chess, respectively.
For city officials and employees, the Sports Fest was more than just a break from routine. It showed the value of balance how staying active leads to healthier lifestyles, stronger bonds, and better performance in serving the people of Taguig.

Earlier in the week, the city held Legislators’ Night, where city and barangay councilors reaffirmed their commitment to public service, and a Bloodletting Activity that yielded 117 blood bags over 56 liters of blood from 192 donors, ensuring that patients in need will continue to receive life-saving support.
Councilors Week – Tree Caring 2025
As part of Taguig’s Councilors’ Week celebration, councilors and volunteers led a special tree-caring activity along the Baybreeze bike lane at C6 Road, Laguna Lake Highway, Barangay San Miguel, on Thursday, September 11. The activity forms part of the city’s long-term efforts to nurture trees, improve air quality, and create a greener environment.
During the event, city officials and volunteers fertilized and installed bamboo fences around 100 Tabebuia Rosea trees that were planted last year. The collective effort not only enhances the city’s green spaces but also promotes tree growth to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles passing through the busy highway.
The initiative focuses on cultivating and protecting trees to support their healthy development. With every tree given the right amount of fertilizer and shielded by three to five bamboo fences—depending on size—organizers aim to ensure stronger roots, better blooming, and protection from wind and other natural barriers.
Councilor Eduardo Prado, Chairperson of the Committee on Environmental Protection and Ecology, stressed the significance of the event and its long-term benefits for Taguigeños:
